Modified geopolymers as promising catalyst supports for abatement of dichloromethane

چکیده

Geopolymers have not been extensively employed as catalytic materials despite of their zeolite-resembling Si–Al structure. Geopolymerization offers a novel way for preparation catalysts and possibility to use waste or industrial side-stream derived raw material resource catalyst manufacturing. This work concentrates on metakaolin-based geopolymer that were prepared, characterized tested alternative environmentally benign supports the oxidation dichloromethane. The geopolymers with Si/Al ratio 1.5 modified HCl increase specific surface area, which is important in applications. Significant areas was achieved via leaching Na Al from Highest calcined over 500 m2g-1. Use acid concentrations higher than 1 M led dehydroxylation geopolymer. Carbon foams as catalyst supports for phenol photodegradation.

A carbon foam using coal tar pitch as precursor was prepared and investigated as support for titanium oxide for the photocatalytic degradation of phenol. The performance of the carbon foam/titania composite was compared to those of unsupported titania and other activated carbon composites from the literature. The photodegradation rate of phenol over the catalysts under UV illumination was fitte...

Be12O12 Nano-cage as a Promising Catalyst for CO2 Hydrogenation

An efficient conversion of CO2 into valuable fuels and chemicals has been hotly pursued recently. Here, for the first time, we have explored a series of M12x12 nano-cages (M = B, Al, Be, Mg; X = N, P, O) for catalysis of CO2 to HCOOH. Two steps are identified in the hydrogenation process, namely, H2 activation to 2H*, and then 2H* transfer to CO2 forming HCOOH, where the barriers of two H* tran...

Catalyst supports for polymer electrolyte fuel cells.

A major challenge in obtaining long-term durability in fuel cells is to discover catalyst supports that do not corrode, or corrode much more slowly than the current carbon blacks used in today's polymer electrolyte membrane fuel cells. Such materials must be sufficiently stable at low pH (acidic conditions) and high potential, in contact with the polymer membrane and under exposure to hydrogen ...

Tailored N-Containing Carbons as Catalyst Supports in Alcohol Oxidation

The introduction of N-containing functionalities in carbon-based materials is brought to stable and highly active metal-supported catalysts. However, up to now, the role of the amount and the nature of N-groups have not been completely clear. This study aims to clarify these aspects by preparing tailored N-containing carbons where different N-groups are introduced during the synthesis of the ca...
